Major & Career Goals

What's happening currently and what's to come

Major: Exercise Science

Throughout my years at IUPUI I will be taking courses like Anatomy which involves diving into the structure of the human body. Studying its numerous systems and how they interact. It explains the skeletal system, muscles, organs, and other anatomical parts in depth. A complete understanding of anatomy is extremely important for a Physical Therapist since I will be working directly with all parts of the body, adjusting the spine and other body parts to improve wellness.

While anatomy deals with structure, physiology is focused with how the body’s systems work. It explains how muscles contract, nerves communicate messages, and different organs work together. Understanding the physiological parts of the human body is also important for a Physical Therapist since I will attempt to maximize its purpose through adjustments and treatments.

Related sciences is also required. Biology, chemistry, and physics are examples of these. These courses give you a larger scientific knowledge for understanding the body’s structure, which is important in Physical Therapy.

This isn't just a graduate program, it's an unforgettable journey in which my passion for an active lifestyle combines with my academic interests. I look forward to the difficulties and successes that graduate school will offer, knowing that each step will get me closer to accomplishing my dream of being a certified Physical Therapist.
